Reverse osmosis was developed to clean wastewater for different industrial needs. It gained a lot of popularity as it can even make the sea water drinkable. The level of pollutants is increasing in the water that is supplied to our houses. This makes it necessary to either switch to bottled water or install purification system in the establishment. The RO treatment system has a simple but very efficient process with which it discards all possible pollutants and supplies the purest possible water. There is a semi-permeable RO membrane installed in the system. This layer does not allow any particle to pass which has a bigger molecule size than that of water.Fortunately, a water molecule in one of the smallest molecule. It makes it easier to get the pollutants out. The pump puts high pressure on the salt side of the membrane. This pressure pushes the water through the membrane. It leaves all the pollutant molecules behind. In general, it moves from 95% to 99% dissolved salts behind in the discarded stream of water. The pressure that is required to push the clean water through the membrane is based on the salinity of the water. The more saline the water is the more pressure will be needed to clean it. Once washed it is known as the desalinated water. It is de-mineralized and de-ionized. It is also known as permeate water. The water stream that holds the pollutants is not passed through the membrane. This discarded water can be then further thrown away in the drain or can be used in gardens.Generally in purification systems, the pollutant material if often gets collected in the filter itself. This increases the maintenance cost for the long duration of time. On the other hand in the RO system, there are two outlets. The first outlet is for the purified water which goes to the sink AKA the Holding tank. The other is for the discarded water which can be rerouted in different ways. The first possible way is to send the water back to the RO system. This way it gets filtered with the new stream of water. This saves a significant amount of drinking water. The other way is to redirect the discarded wastewater to the garden. The plants will regulate the contamination. The least preferred way is to send the discarded wastewater directly down the drain. The best reverse osmosis system is indeed one of the finest water purification systems available in the market. Still, the amount of discarded wastewater is quite much more that the amount of water it sends to the sink which is presumably safe for drinking. It is important to make sure that the discarded water is redirected to the water table. You should either use the cross filtration or use the water in the garden. The amount of drinkable water is reducing day by day. We are using a lot of our natural water resources. It is our duty to make sure that safe drinking water is available for the coming generation. It is important to have a safe and healthy water supply at home. RO system ensures that.Although there are other water treatment systems like a faucet filter available in the market, in my humble opinion, a reverse osmosis system provides the best possible solution to remove the pollutants from the wastewater. The municipal corporations around the world use chlorine and fluorine to clean the water which is not good for your health. The RO purification system is capable of cleaning these chemicals.
