Listed building appeals

If your property is a listed building and you have been refused listed building consent then you can appeal that decision.

You can also appeal if there are conditions on a consent that you consider to be unreasonable.

The process is similar to that used in a planning appeal and will often be combined with the associated planning application appeal (if both are required for the proposed development).

You should therefore ensure that you complete and submit both appeal forms on the same day to assist the Planning Inspectorate in “combining” the two appeals.

You must appeal the decision within 6 months of either the date of the decision or, if not decision was given within 8 weeks, then the date it was due (this changes to 13 weeks for major developments).

The full procedure for submitting a listed building appeal1 is available on GOV.UK
